The Story of T.T.
Allowing me to interview him while finishing his chicken thighs and green beans, T.T. introduced his journey by explaining its origin. He was born in Cuba and immigrated with his family when he was an infant. His family decided the best choice for him would be to go into adoption, and he was taken in by a family in Miami. His new adopted family moved to Pensacola, where T.T. would grow up. He lived with 13 brothers and sisters, many of whom he keeps up with to this day. T.T. and his family went to Bright Bridge for support growing up, which inspired him to come back when he faced homelessness. When I asked him to provide words of wisdom, T.T. said, “you can do anything you want to do,” and, "you are who you surround yourself with." Great advice, especially for someone my age. And to hear that I can do anything from someone who has gone through so much was very moving. T.T. is working in Bright Bridges’ psychology program and will graduate from it this year. I appreciated my sit-down with T.T. and learned a lot from him.
