The Story of Francesca

On Thursday, I was introduced to Francesca as she was finishing up her meal. I was nervous that it was not the perfect time to give an interview, but she insisted that she was happy to. Immediately, I learned how beautiful a person Francesca is. Francesca taught me a lot throughout the interview, but the main point she emphasized was to “live by having faith in the Lord”. Religion has been a cornerstone of her life since her childhood. Francesca grew up in Flint, Michigan, where she graduated from high school and attended a year of college. When her parents divorced, she was forced to move with her father to Pensacola, where she has lived ever since. Work has been hard to come by in the later stages of her life, but Francesca told me, “I know that there’s a God and I thank God”. Francesca only recently found Bright Bridge when she moved into the neighborhood, but she is very fond of the work they are doing. She now attends service at the ministry every Sunday, and often spends her afternoons eating dinner in the dining hall. It was a joy to talk to Francesca, as she taught me a great deal about how to persevere through hard times and the value of faith.
